ABOUT US

Calvary Preschool is a non-profit organization licensed by the State of California and Department of Social Services.

OUR HISTORY: 60 YEARS OF CARING FOR CHILDREN

Calvary Presbyterian Church has sponsored Calvary Preschool since the preschool was established in 1959. The church considers the preschool to be an outreach of support to its members and to the community.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At Calvary Preschool, we seek to provide a child-centered integrated curriculum where a child may grow to be well-rounded - intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically. We view loving interactions with others and play as the primary means for healthy development in young children. Our foremost goal is to provide a preschool experience that prepares children for future success, both in school and in life, by showing them how to solve problems, get along with others and be competent and responsible individuals.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

The Calvary Preschool staff is dedicated to providing children with a safe, nurturing environment that allows each individual child to embrace diversity and grow socially, emotionally, creatively and intellectually at their own pace.

ABOUT OUR CENTER

We have eight independent classrooms and two shared play yards that provide space and equipment for a wide variety of activities. Classrooms are clean and orderly. A well-balanced program of indoor and outdoor activities is maintained. Daily schedules include outdoor time in both play yards and indoor classroom time. Indoor classroom time allows for activities in music, group time, independent play and creative expression.

A child-centered environment exists with teachers guiding and facilitating the learning process. Each child is free to learn at his or her own level, pace and degree of interest. Younger and older children learn from each other. Each child is both a teacher and a student.

All teaching is done in English however we do have staff members able to communicate in Korean, and Spanish.
